Meet the Psychologist

Isabela Lopes BSc(Psych)(Macq), BPsychSc(Hons)(BU)

At the heart of my work is a deep respect for your experiences, emotions, and personal growth. I aim to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and safe to explore what is on your mind. Therapy isn’t about me being the expert on your life, it’s about working together to help you navigate challenges and find a sense of balance that feels right for you.

I take a trauma-informed, client-centered approach. I integrate different evidence-based therapies, including psychodynamic approaches, Schema Therapy, EMDR, CBT, DBT, and ACT, tailoring them to your needs.

I hold an Honours degree in Psychology and am registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. I'm also a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc. and a Trainee Member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy. Currently, I’m pursuing a Master’s in Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy at the University of Sydney.

Over the years, I’ve worked in both public and private sectors including foster care, NDIS providers, workplace rehabilitation, not-for-profits, and private practice, supporting individuals from all walks of life.

If you’re ready to begin or just want to chat about whether we’d be a good fit, feel free to reach out.  I offer sessions in both English and Portuguese.

Who I Support

I work with adults navigating a range of experiences that often have trauma at their core, including:

  • Complex Trauma and PTSD —  the lingering impact of childhood experiences, relationship wounds, or overwhelming events that continue to shape how you feel, think, and relate

  • Anxiety, mood difficulties, and OCD —  patterns like low mood, panic, or obsessive thoughts

  • Difficult or unsafe relationships —  such as the impacts of domestic violence or long-term relational patterns that feel hard to shift

  • Relationship and identity concerns —  challenges around connection, boundaries, self-worth, or questions of “who am I?”

  •  Workplace relationship challenges —  including the emotional strain of bullying, conflict, or environments that feel unsafe, invalidating, or at odds with your values

  • Life transitions and deeper questions —   moments of change, creative blocks, existential concerns, or a desire for greater meaning and reconnection

  • Culturally diverse experiences — I welcome clients from all cultural backgrounds and speak both English and Portuguese

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities as the Traditional Custodians of the land we work on. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and recognise that their sovereignty was never ceded.

We celebrate and include people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, bodies and abilities.
